Willistown Township is one of the oldest Townships in Chester County being mapped out in 1681 on the Holmes Map of 1681. It was originally referred to as Willeston and became an organized Township is 1704. The first roads in Willistown were originally trails used frequently by Native Americans and later cowpaths. Those original roads are still in existence today.
